When Laci Peterson went missing on
December 24, 2002 at seven and a half months pregnant, the police had
one suspect: Scott Peterson. Other likely suspects existed, tips to
find Laci and bring her home safe existed and evidence to exonerate
Scott existed, but none of them were pursued.

I can't tell you when he did it. I can't tell you if he did it at night. I can't tell you if he did it in the morning. I'm not going to try to convince you of something that I can't prove. I don't have to prove that to you. I only have to prove that he did it.”
At the end of a two year investigation and a six month capital murder case, this is the best they had.
The media exposure generated when Laci went missing was something never seen before. The media was a powerful force and much wrong information was disseminated.
